Thanks Grant, that was most interesting. I can see that this could be useful to videographers wanting to have a video package in the “Economy” range since it removes that time consuming editing and looks like it could also cut down on the on site time as well. I don’t see very many of my clients using it though. Most don’t want anything to do with trying to take stills let alone video. But there are a couple I can think of who hire me for the higher end properties but shoot the smaller, less expensive ones themselves to maximize their cost of sale margins.
But how interesting and really very effective the app is in doing what it sets out to do really very well and complete.
Hey Peter – yes I agree with you and I can see the potential for the Realty agents that have in interest in producing their own video content. It will be interesting to see how the app will go in the marketplace. Cheers
This was a great review of the Momenzo application. You are right, the big time consumer with video is editing the video. I add room names, music, and agent branding to the front & back of the video. It takes me about 3 hours to complete a video after editing and loading it to my website.
The real estate company I work for in Tucson introduced an application called Asteroom 3D Tour, which creates a 3D tour using a smart photo on a rotator or using one of several 3D cameras. They produce the 3D with a floorplan, but charge for each shoot. I think Momenzo is a better solution.
The problem with both solutions is it takes time away from the agents finding clients and closing homes. It also encourages agents to take photos of the home with their smart phone. I am not aware of any applications that will automate photo editing using HDR photography to enhance out-the-window shots.
Another concern I would have is the iPhone overheating. When Zillow introduced the first videos it was done with an iPhone application they provided. It edited each of the segments and delivered a completed video, but I kept having trouble with my iPhone overheating. I upgraded to the iPhone 6 and had the same problem. At that time many people on the internet were complaining about the iPhone overheating. It was probably the way the application was using the video.
I work for about 100 agents in Tucson providing photos, video, 3D Tours, and drone photos, video, and 3D Tours. I average about 400 homes per year. I think agents will quickly get tired of spending their valuable time taking videos.
Hi Ron – I agree with you about the time and interest agents will take in doing video or photos and as you say their number one priority is selling the home. I do however see the potential for agents that have an interest in video and are perhaps very active with their social media profile and using an app like this that effectively eliminates the video editing component has to be attractive to them. Cheers
Hi Grant, I don’t shoot real estate but do enjoy your posts. Does the app straighten the verticals? to me that’s the sign of a real professional when the walls are not on a lean.
No it doesn’t, it has limited editing capabilities which I guess is so it stays streamlined for easy use. Cheers
Most agents are way too busy to shoot their own videos with their phones which they can also use to shoot stills. I think it’s a cool little app. realtors can use in a crunch, but I think most of them will stick with a professional.
Hi Grant,
As an agent, I can see the potential for this app. It is probably only for the lower end of the market, where there usually wouldn’t be the marketing budget for video.
I think phone cameras will need to improve their dynamic range a lot before they are used widely. Even with the iPhone 11, I could see quite a bit of high ISO noise in the video. Lower end houses do tend to be darker as well.
Overall I see you having a job for many more years! Thanks for the content you put out.
